Background: Nelly Korda first played the US Women's Open at 14. Twelve attempts later, she finally won it. Fourth major. The one she wanted most…
What happened: Korda closed with a 2-under 69, winning by one shot over Charley Hull and Gaby Lopez at Riviera CC in LA. She started the week seven shots off the lead. By Sunday she was untouchable. A clutch birdie on 17, a putt on 18 that caught the lip, circled the edge, and dropped in. Her caddie cried. Hull finished runner-up at a major for the fifth time. Still no trophy. Poor Charley.
What else: The purse was a record $12.5 million. Korda took home $2.5 million the biggest cheque in women's major history. She is now chasing the career Grand Slam. Two majors away. The next one is in three weeks.
What's the key learning?
The last player who looked like this was Annika Sorenstam in 2005. Right now nobody is close to Korda. Four majors at 27. A 50% win rate in 2026. This isn't a hot streak it's history being made.
